Design for new Halifax Convention Centre revealed

Pretty swanky. Instead of continuing as the Halifax World Trade and Convention Centre, it'll now be known as Nova Centre, Global Trade and Finance.  From the article in today's Chronicle Herald: The 2,500-seat convention centre complex is expected to include two towers of 18 and 14 storeys, along with retail space and possibly a hotel. ... This is Halifax in the early 90s. Before Purdy's Wharf Tower II was built, before Bishop's Landing was built, before that ugly building with the arts supplies store was built opposite Maritime Centre on Barrington Street, and before the power plant's smoke stacks were taken down. Good memories. A lot ... Read more »

A promotional video for a new office tower in Dubai that looks onto the Burj Dubai. I was with them until the slogan. Now I will never be with them. Never. I've gotta say that the chances of this being built are pretty much zero. Yup, the big oh-fer. And rightfully ... Read more »

Some amazing photos of Halifax from back in the day. It certainly feels more charming than it does now, eh? Barrington was rockin', the Citadel seemed important, and the Central Library was the correct scale for the size of its lot. How things have changed...
