From the Game Notes of the same game recap:

Diaw had more points at halftime (15) than he did in 50 of his previous 58 games this season.

No no, I take that back. That was totally worth noting.

The Suns lost again last night, dropping them to 2-4 since the O’Neal trade.

I have to admit that I was one of the people that tried to rationalize the deal. I thought that maybe there was a method to their madness. Maybe I just wasn’t smart enough to understand why this deal made sense. But so far it looks like a lose-lose situation for both teams basketball-wise (cap-wise it’s no contest). I’d hate this to be how Nash ends his career. Winning back-to-back MVPs without making the Finals will haunt him.

I wonder how Nash would have fit in with Avery Johnson. Dallas was soft inside when Nelson was coaching, which was why people dubbed Phoenix as a better Dallas, but under Johnson they developed a strong inside game (look at Dirk’s numbers on 3PA pre and post Avery). Which means two things: 1. Dallas with Avery and Nash would be a better Phoenix. 2. Dallas with Avery and Nash would be a better Dallas than Dallas with Avery and Kidd.

And all of this because of Gasol.

On the question of meaning.

March 1st, 2008 | Uncategorized | Comment »

From an interview with this author dude:

7. After 30 years of working with entrepreneurs, do you see a fundamental change in entrepreneurship today? If so, what is different now and why?

Actually, no. I don’t see a fundamental difference between the entrepreneurs of 30 years ago and the entrepreneurs I meet today. Other than this: today’s entrepreneur is more likely to be interested in meaning rather than money. Not that he’s not interested in money; he obviously is. But money that comes with the absence of meaning is too big a price to pay for the new entrepreneur I’m engaging today.

Understand, I’m not saying that everyone I meet today has the question of meaning in mind. But, when I begin the conversation about meaning, more people I meet today are interested in having the conversation than ever before. So, there’s something going on today in the world of the entrepreneur. And that’s why I call it “the age of the new entrepreneur.” Something interesting is beginning to wake up, not only in the people I’m talking to, but in me as well.

This is interesting. But it doesn’t seem to stop the tide of people who enjoy accusing young entrepreneurs of “only caring about money,” which I’ve always found to be a bit of a pathetic failed insult.

What I dislike:

Inhabitat story…

At the center of the structure would be a ‘vast internal void’ lit by circular openings every 20 storys. Each of these ‘holes’ would be used as either public squares or for specialist activities such as ice skating, botanic gardens or swimming pools. Nice idea and nice visuals but it looks like it’ll be firmly rooted in our imaginations for the time being.

Mile-High London

That people would read that and think “pshaw, that’s a pipe dream.”

Incidentally, the problem with 96% of architecture firms is that they feel the need to make their websites “creative,” as if we wouldn’t be able to appreciate the quality and impact of their portfolio if we didn’t wait 3 minutes to load the Flash page that presents us with 14 unlabeled overlapping circles as the main navigation. Listen, I’m not hiring you to design a poorly laid-out website, I’m hiring you to design a building. Show me that your architects are creative, not your web designers. If I visit your office and you serve me a cup of tea, I want it to be in a cup that I can drink from, not a cup that illustrates your creativity and in so doing makes it impossible for me to get my maté fix.
