U2

When I was a kid, for a fraction of a summer, my nickname was U2. Only I’m pretty sure it was really, “you, too.” At that point, I don’t think I had any idea who U2 was. In fact, I’m pretty sure that it was only because of that fleeting nickname that I came to learn of the band.

So…there’s that.

But there’s also this: U2 performed on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live last night with Megan Fox. Fox was a bit of a waste, but the band was incredible, quite possibly stealing the show.

They performed three songs. None of their performances are on YouTube, but some of the songs have been performed on TV previously:

Breathe, as performed on Late Night with David Letterman a few months ago:

Moment of Surrender, as performed at Giants Stadium:

Best line from the Moment of Surrender video: “I want you to take your phones out and, just for now, let’s turn Giants Stadium into the Milky Way.”

Bono…so effin’ cool.
