This the first trailer for The Soloist, a film starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx, about the relationship between a journalist and a homeless schizophrenic who used to be a cello prodigy. It looks incredible. It’s wild to think that Jamie Foxx is playing these types of characters after humble beginnings on In Living Color and in stand-up. He’s a phenomenal talent, and is too often wasted in films like Stealth and Miami Vice. In the same sense, it’s pretty uplifting to see Robert Downey Jr. have the opportunity take on these types of roles after being a Hollywood plague for so many years. Both their performances look stunning. I’m looking forward to the film.
