The music video as a medium for social commentary and activism
September 5th, 2008 | Arts, Music Videos | 2 Comments »This is that same song, Working Class Hero, covered by Green Day and used as a way to inform viewers about the ethnic cleansing in Darfur. It’s pretty nuts.
It links to The Saints Are Coming, a collaboration between Green Day and U2, that is used, it seems, as a patriotic thanks for the US military’s help in saving New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Obviously, I prefer the previous video.

The second video is a scathing indictment of the appalling ABSENCE of help offered by the U.S. government after Hurricane Katrina!
