Probably the best Olympic opening ceremony ever

The drummers were incredible. The upside of having access to 2 billion people is that you can afford to fill a football field with professional drummers.
Another upside? It’s cheaper to have citizens interlocking hands to create a human barrier to keep people off a path than it is to set up a rope barrier. A product of low wages and high rope prices, no doubt.

And one interesting thing the commentators pointed out was that they were using fireworks because they’re a Chinese invention. You see, had fireworks not been invented in China, the Chinese would have no reason to use them in the opening ceremonies.
Makes sense.
