I want an Oxxford suit

You’ve gotta love good craftmanship.

Chicago’s Oxxford Clothes is apparently the last factory in the United States that makes custom tailored suits by hand. I don’t know much about suits or suitmaking, but after Oxxford describes the care and attention to detail they put into every suit they make, it doesn’t feel like it’s Louis Vuitton or bust anymore. There might be other options.

Check out this promotional video for the brand:

I mean, just listen to the guy’s gravelly, authoritative voice. You just know he’s got his ducks in a row. The man’s in control. His voice screams quality.

Now compare that promo video, which totally sells Oxxford’s suits to me, to, say, this one, for Gucci:

I don’t claim to have any insight into Gucci’s marketing objectives, but it feels as if the notion of selling glamour might be one whose best days are behind it.

…although that ad totally makes me want to steal a mannequin.
