TJ is sooo going to be traded.
March 29th, 2008 | Basketball, Sports | Comment »This is the worst-case scenario for TJ. Now everyone thinks of Calderon as The Good Guy and TJ as The Bad Guy. There’s no way TJ will still be here by the end of the summer. I mean, maybe if he has a stellar postseason, and the Raps go deep, maybe, but it won’t just be a function of his numbers. The thing with TJ is that it always feels as if his points come at the expense of his team. So big numbers, on their own, don’t mean too much because anybody could get big numbers if they hogged the ball like he does. He has to perform well in the flow of the offense. That’s the key to determining the length of his tenure in Red and White.
This article in the Globe and Mail is particularly damaging to TJ’s reputation, and certainly hints at a rift between the Raps’ point men:
Why did you make the offer? Why could it be good for T.J.?
“Because when he was playing in the starting lineup he was playing really good, his confidence was better. Now he’s going to be playing with CB and Anthony Parker and these guys. I don’t know if it’s going to be good for him or worse, the team needed to change something. I think it’s going to be better for the team; if it’s good for T.J. that’s perfect too. It’s a team thing.”
Have you talked with T.J.?
“No, he doesn’t have to say anything to me, it’s a team decision.”
