My 2010 NBA All-Star reserves

January 24th, 2010 | Basketball, Sports | Comment »

The starters for the 2010 NBA All-Star game, who are voted in each year by the fans, were announced a couple days ago:

East
F LeBron James
F Kevin Garnett
C Dwight Howard
G Allen Iverson
G Dwyane Wade

West
F Carmelo Anthony
F Tim Duncan
C Amar’e Stoudemire
G Steve Nash
G Kobe Bryant

The 7 remaining reserve players for each team will soon be selected by the league’s coaches.

These are the players who deserve to be selected:

East
F Danny Granger – Great player on a bad team.
F Gerald Wallace – Toronto could have traded for him two years in a row. You know what’s better, though? Overpaying for Hedo Turkoglu.
C Chris Bosh – Natch.
G Rajon Rondo – Best player on a title contender.
G Joe Johnson – Best player on an elite team.
C David Lee – Monster numbers on a team fighting for a playoff seed.
G Stephen Jackson – Single-handedly transformed a team’s culture and propelled them to the 5th seed.

West
F Dirk Nowitzki – Natch.
F Zach Randolph – Comeback player of the year.
C Pau Gasol – Natch.
G Chris Paul – I’m not totally sold on him, but he puts up great numbers, and New Orleans is in the playoff hunt.
G Brandon Roy – Best numbers on an elite team.
F Kevin Durant – Marginally better than Greg Oden.
G Chauncey Billups – Stephen Jackson of the West. Deserves to be here.
